ANTANANARIVO
APRIL 17 - JUNE 4, 2021
For his first solo exhibition at Fondation H -Antananarivo, artist Tahina Rakotoarivony (born 1980 in Antananarivo, Madagascar) presents a series of works entitled Nofy an-tsary [Visual Dream].This series of acrylic paintings on canvas, produced in 2021, is twinned with an in situ intervention on the wall of the exhibition space.
A major artist of the Malagasy art scene, with many exhibitions under his belt in Antananarivo, Tahina Rakotoarivony has been developing his artistic practice for about twenty years. For this project with Fondation H, he offers a series of paintings in bright, often joyful tones, with warm, round shapes, and sometimes abrupt lines deconstructing the human body to better understand, analyze or imagine it, asin a succession of painted dreams. Through mischievous titles, the works in the exhibition Nofy an-tsary give a pictorial form to life lessons, like sayings imbued with finality.
